Michael has spent the last 25 years in the securities industry and the last 20 years in the investment business. Michael set up Third Friday Management, LLC where he manages The Third Friday Total Return Fund, L.P., an options hedge fund and advises governments and sovereign wealth funds. He also formed The Credit Strategy Group, a registered investment advisory firm, where he manages several credit-oriented hedge funds and separate managed accounts for individual and institutions. Since 2001, Michael has written and published The Credit Strategist, a newsletter that covers economics, politics and the financial markets and that is widely read around the world. Mr. Lewitt was recognized in the Financial Times as having been one of the few investors and strategists to forecast the financial crisis of 2008, and also predicted the credit crisis of 2001-2002. Michael served as a regular financial columnist for the Spanish newspaper El Mundo, and appeared in The New York Times, The New Republic, Trusts & Estates and more. He published The Death of Capital: How Creative Policy Can Restore Stability and The Committee to Destroy The World: Inside the Plot to Unleash a Super Crash on the Global Economy. Mr. Lewitt graduated from Brown University (Magna Cum Laude; Honors in Comparative Literature and History); was a PhD Candidate in Comparative Literature at Yale University; and also graduated from New York University Law School (J.D.; LLM in Taxation).
